I liked Daniel Tammet's lecture where he discussed experiencing numbers as colors and textures. It is important for those of us who are professional educators to be mindful that individuals can think quite differently..
Daniel Tammet impressed me for the suffering he has undergone and how he has turned it into his search for what it means to be a person and account for theories of learning that teach us to go beyond information and seek wisdom from what we learn.
I loved the session with Daniel Tammet. Talk about a different way of knowing and viewing the world! His explanation of how he decided to learn the social language and behavior of the non-autistic in order to communicate his interior vision of the world was a revelation to me.
I really enjoyed Daniel Tammet's talk. I particularly liked his description of learning to socialize as if it were learning another language. Daniels story builds the case that we must make every effort to appreciate and most importantly tap/mobilize/engage what appears to be unlikely sources of human talent and innovation in order to solve the worlds problemsI mean opportunities! Our willingness to do so will, in the end, define humanity.
